I remember Fuyong Estate
Share your memories of Fuyong Estate, built and named after the hometown of prominent philanthropist Mr Lee Kong Chian.
Nestled at the foot of Bukit Timah Hill, Fuyong Estate was carved out more than seven decades ago in the midst of surrounding icons such as the Singapore quarry, the Malayan railway line and bridge, and the modern day Rail Mall.
Neighbours who lived here became lifelong friends, looked out for each other, grew old and brought their children up together, building a strong sense of community, cohesion and common identity. In keeping with the kampong spirit, the residents also launched a coffee table book and erected a sculpture designed by our very own artist, Mr Oh Chai Hoo at Fuyong Park – in commemoration of SG50 and his 70th birthday. These are all stories and snippets of Fuyong Estate’s charming history that forms part of the Singapore story.
