What memories do you have of the ROM/M building and/or your ROM/M experience ? Share it with us!
“Did you know the Registry of Civil and Muslim Marriages has been residing at the foothills of Fort Canning since the early 1960s and moved to its current location at 7 Canning Rise (within Fort Canning Park) in August 1983?
Through the decades, the Registry of Civil and Muslim Marriages has witnessed the union of many couples as they begin their marriage journey together. ROM/M has become such a significant institution in Singapore that is it common to hear people asking “Have you ROM/M?” or “When are you going to ROM/M?”, using the term “ROM/M” as a verb.
The ‘MyROMStory’ campaign is a joint collaboration between the Ministry of Social and Family Development and Singapore Memory Project. What memories do you have of the ROM/M building and/or your ROM/M experience? Do you remember the joyous occasions that have taken place here, whether it was your own solemnisation, or witnessing your loved ones registering their marriage? Share your stories with us today!”
