I could never reconcile with the need for 2 primary schools to be built side by side each other. I entered Keppel School in 1981 and was puzzled by the existence of Cantonment School beside it. There was not even a fence separating those two schools. But students of one school were not allowed to cross over to the other. I never dared venture to Cantonment School and I am still curious if any of my schoolmates and teachers ever did so. Of course, history has it that the two schools combined to become Keppel Primary School in...1984? I was finally allowed to legitimately explore the "Cantonment School" building...
